EIT IDL ROUTINES - Getting Started
EIT Image Display Routines
-
EIT_DISPLAY.PRO
-
IDL> eit_display
-
Allows the user to pick a period of time, select a wavelength sector,
filter and then brings up a list of files by clicking 'SEARCH'. It is
necessary to correctly select either 'Level Zero' or 'Quick Look' in
order for the program to find the desired data. By clicking on one of
the displayed rows in the list, that file will be displayed in an IDL
window. It is possible to select logarithmic (default), square root or
linear scaling. 'XLOADCT' brings up a program to modify the color
table. 'PS File' creates a postscript file (eit_..date...ps) in your
current working directory. It can be printed from most systems by 'lp
-d lasco-phaser "filename.ps" '.
-
EIT_MOVIE.PRO
-
IDL> eit_movie
-
Allows the user to display movies of EIT images. Similar in use to
'eit_display', the user select first the date and 'Quick Look' or
'Level_Zero' and any other choices, clicks 'SEARCH' and a list of files
will be brought up. One can simply select several images, click 'OK'
and a movie will be displayed. For movies of a large number of images,
it is often easiest to 'Cancel' the results of the current search,
refine the search parameters, click 'SEARCH' again until all the files
displayed are suitable for the desired movie and then click 'All'.
UTILITIES
-
IDL> eit_lister,list
-
allows the user to retrieve a string array ('list') of
desired EIT files.
-
IDL> list2file,list,'filename'
-
puts a string array, such as a list of files into a file 'filename'.
It is useful for taking the output from lasco_lister or eit_lister to
create files of a list of file names that can the be used by movie
routines.
